Black-bellied Slender Salamander
Batrachoseps nigriventris

This little salamander might almost be mistaken for a worm if you didn't look closely--but it is most definitely not a worm, as its tiny legs and well-formed eyes will attest! Usually found under logs or other cover, these salamanders are most easily seen in the damp winter months.
